Alex, just became a subscriber to get to the great total list of stations and the percentages of their budgets supported by cpb. Can not seem to find it.
Thanks Alex. Truly impressive work. Its the other 326 rows of interest. I know many folks at many stations and am curious who is most at risk. You did a great list of those above 30%, but it could be a serious blow at only 20% depending on institutional support details.
A long time ago, I helped run two NPR stations that broadcasted in Europe - we used to get donations from all over, especially the UK and Sweden. I hadn't thought about international advocacy for US public media through underwriting and donations. It's a very intriguing idea!
I would like to use your data to identify the most at risk stations, but Im not matching a bunch of the call signs that are in your list and I am wondering why.
Hi Mike, beautiful app. Did you see the one I launched recently at adoptastation.org? I only have the coordinates of the towns/cities the stations are registered in, not the precise location - it seems like you already have that covered.
That would be because my data is built only on the actual entities that applied for and received grants from CPB (and therefore have financial disclosures available to draw from). Several of those entities applied for one grant for several distinct stations, and all of the entities operate several towers and stations that function as repeaters or simulcasts, which show up in the Wikipedia page. I think the best way to reconcile our two datasets would be to match the CPB grantees I list here with the "Station" column here (https://cpb.org/cpb-station-finder/None/Radio) and cross-reference it with the "FCC" column. Best of luck!

Do you have the street addresses or lat lon of these stations? I have been working on a sponsor an NPR station map https://mmann1123.github.io/sponsor_an_NPR/ based on the stations i could pull from the wikipedia listing here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NPR_stations.

ha well great minds think alike. Would you want to join forces here, and I can be the map for your site?
Thanks for the station finder, so your data could match with the "station" column in the station finder?
