Thanks for setting this up, Alex. I have worked at CPB since June 2003, first as a TV Content project manager and now as Sr Director, Contract Management & Operations in the Office of the Heneral Counsel. Since 2020, I’ve been working from home in Long Beach, CA. I’m not sure yet how long my employment will continue.

Needless to say, I am sad but also agree that this it a great opportunity to make changes, reorganize, develop partnerships and move forward. If there is a group I can join as conversations continue, I would like to participate.

Alex, I'm super-impressed with this important work. Question: Are you able to show the absolute as well as relative impact on individual stations (i.e., actual dollars)? Supporters interested in targeting contributions to the most-distressed stations will want to know the magnitude of the funding gap and thus what size contribution might have an impact. Thanks!

Hi Rosalind, somehow I missed your first comment, apologies! I do have that information, but stations have varying levels of comfort discussing exact amounts which is why it's not on Adopt A Station. You can find a state-by-state breakdown of all the CPB grants given (and now lost) at this site: https://cpb.org/aboutcpb/financials/funding. Click into a state and then "View all Grants and Allocations." I hope that's helpful!

Thanks for your work. Great site, but wish there was a list to view instead of having to hit the button to see one at a time.

CPB funding is gone. What about the US Dept of Education funding that provides as much or more money than CPB to some stations? (E.G. WNCU: $948K.)

What is this money and its status? Is it also gone or going, as your calculations imply?

Thanks for your work.

My calculations assume all federal grants are gone. I believe all DOE grants are frozen minus some after school program funding

In NC, I've been seeing lots of messaging about $$ needed by the biggest stations (PBS NC, WUNC) to close the gap, but no such data about the tiny HBCU stations that appear most dependent on federal funds. I'd like to get a sense of just how much they'll need to survive. Percentages don't get me there. Thanks!
